Guess what--hiring managers don't read
books of questions to ask in job interviews--so why do
you expect those books to give you any real insight into
what will be asked? As a hiring manager for 15+ years, I
always asked candidates do describe their prior work
experience and honestly, there were only 5 questions I
ever asked, and these are the questions that are
consistently asked.
The best thing you can do to prepare for a job interview
is to come prepared with specific examples of your
experience that prove how wonderful you'll be as an
employee. I developed the acronym TODAY to
help candidates think of topics to discuss (to avoid
that sitting-duck feeling), as well as groom you to
answer the 5 questions you'll always be asked. You talk
about you--your experiences and the benefits you bring
the company--not some stylized "perfect" answer.
Simple, concise, effective. Get your confidence and
power back when you walk into an interview instead of
worrying about delivering the "perfect" answers.
